Arrived on the 3rd of June at Marseille for an exceptional call, the CMA CGM JULES VERNE was welcomed
by thousands of local people and employees from CMA CGM’s Head Office.
Her inauguration was a fitting celebration to mark the 35th anniversary of a Group that was founded in Marseille by Jacques R. Saadé in 1978.

Fire breaks out on board "Royal Caribbean" cruise ship
(CNN) -- A voice on the intercom woke Danielle Miller and told her to put on her life jacket
and run to a deck. Not knowing what the emergency was,
she nervously woke up her roommate and did just that.
The emergency, as she and other passengers would learn, was a fire that started in the rear of Royal Caribbean's Grandeur of the Seas cruise ship about 2:50 a.m. Monday while it was heading to the Bahamas, sending guests to the decks under the night sky.
Though it never lost power, the ship was diverted to Freeport in the Bahamas, and the fire, which began in a mooring area, was extinguished just before 5 a.m., the company said.
The ship's 2,224 guests and 796 crew members initially were headed to CocoCay, Bahamas, but the ship was redirected to Freeport for evaluation, Royal Caribbean said.
Two guests were treated after fainting, and medical staff also responded to reports of high blood pressure and an ankle sprain, Royal Caribbean said.
The company's president and CEO, Adam Goldstein, and other officials with Miami-based Royal Caribbean headed to Freeport on Monday morning to meet guests, she said.
Two U.S. Coast Guard cutters escorted the Bahamian-flagged cruise ship to Freeport, the Coast Guard said. The service said that it, the National Transportation Safety Board and Bahamian officials would conduct a joint investigation to determine the fire's cause.

Titanic 2: Mixed reaction at Southampton launch event
The building of a replica
of the ill-fated Titanic has received a mixed reaction at a launch event in
The man behind the project, Clive Palmer, was absent from the event in the
building which was formerly the Southern Western Hotel.
But invited local guests watched a video presentation as they ate a breakfast
based on Titanic's menu - featuring soda and sultana scones,
Parma ham and lamb collops.
Briefings about Titanic 2 plans have already been held around the world, but
this is surely the most emotive location.
Mr Palmer said 40,000 people had already registered for tickets on the
first voyage, which will "complete the journey" of those who left Southampton
There may still be scepticism and questions over taste, but if the
distinctive four funnels of Titanic 2 steam out of Southampton Water in 2016 as
planned, the world will certainly be watching.

Brothers rescued from burning boat off Lincolnshire coast
Two brothers had to be
rescued from the North Sea when their boat burst into flames.
The 11m (36ft) fishing vessel Hunter suffered engine trouble on Sunday off
Saltfleet Haven in Lincolnshire and headed back to shore.
But it caught fire before they reached land and the crew had to beach it on a
sandbank and escape in a life raft.
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency said the pair were about one nautical mile
out to sea when they first got into difficulty and turned round.
But the engine caught fire and took hold too quickly to put out so the men
had to abandon ship.

Superyacht builders wary of landlubbers among new rich
(Reuters) - The glamour, champagne-soaked
launches, astronomical price tags and celebrity clients belie a mounting unease
in the world of superyacht building, according to industry insiders.
"The businesshas been going through a lot of change in the
past four years," says Henk de Vries, head of shipbuilder Feadship which
recently completed the 80-metre (yard) Venus motoryacht, reportedly ordered by
the late Apple founder Steve Jobs and impounded in Amsterdam for unpaid bills.
The new rich of China and Asia do not necessarily have the same
maritime traditions and many would not think of yachts when choosing luxury
lifestyle accessories, which may prove a challenge.
"We're all hoping and expecting the next big wave will be from China,"
said Espen Oeino, a Monaco based yacht designer.
